Exchange Rules and Guidelines

Please remember that the site rules apply to the exchange forums as well and there is no excuse for any disruptive behavior. Rule breaking of ANY kind is not tolerated. This is including but not limited to the following:

    Skip to:

    Price Trolling:
    • If a seller is asking more for an item then you want to pay, wait for another seller. If you make an offer and the seller rejects it offer again or wait for another seller. DO NOT whine, beg, heckle, or harass the seller about the item. It is their item; they can ask whatever price they want for it.
    • If you are selling an item and another seller is selling the same item for less DO NOT harass them about their price. If they are willing to take less on the item then you are it's still their item they can ask whatever price they want for it.
    • If a buyer is offering on your item less then you want to sell your item say "No thank you" and wait for another buyer. If you do not want to lower your price DO NOT harass the buyer to pay more for the item.
    • If an item is selling for more then you want to pay DO NOT single out or harass sellers. Items prices change daily. It is not the fault of the item sellers alone. If buyers are willing to pay a higher price on an item its price will go up. Harassing the sellers will not get you your way. Singling out a seller by telling people what the person is selling is still harassment. This also goes the other way around, if someone if buying an item for more then you want to pay leave them alone. Its their gold and they can offer what they want for the item they are after. This also includes the use of signature signs to harass/complain/whine/troll about prices.
    • Price Quoting. This is NOT when a person asks for help with pricing. This IS when someone goes into a thread and "informs" the seller of what the "real" price is. Regardless of if you are trying to get them to lower or raise the price it can be price quoting. Trying to get a seller to follow a certain price guide, like sale, or Ah listing is also Price Quoting. A seller can ask whatever price they want for their item. If you do not like the price wait for another seller.
    Spam
    • "Bump" "Saves" "Good Luck" or any other non-contributing post meant to boost your post count, push a topic to the top of the forum, or 'save' the thread owner from triple posting is Spam. It will result in warning and possible gold docking.
    • Panty Auctions and Paper Clip Sales. In the exchange these are spam. These types of sales are just looking for charity bids on items that are worthless. These types of Auctions may be done in the exchange ONLY if done through the AH set to auction.
    Thread Use
    • You may sell an item in ONE thread only. This means if you want to trade your pookie you need to do so in ONE thread. Before opening another thread for that item you must end, and lock the previous thread. Once the thread is ended and locked all offers made in that thread are nullified and must be re-posted in the new thread if they are to continue being valid.
    • You can have as many AH threads as you're willing to pay for HOWEVER you may only bump 1 thread. You may link to the other threads in your main thread to advertize their content but all extra AH threads are to be used only for their AH and not bumped or chatted in.

How to make an Auction Shop

Making an Auction Shop can be done in one click and makes selling easy! It also makes you eligible to enter the Top Earner, Top Seller, and Best CSS contests! So why not set up your own right away?

    • Step 1: Create a thread in the Exchange or Goodwill form.

    • Step 2: In your newly created thread, look beside the post new reply button. There should be a button that looks like a shopping cart. Click it, you will be prompted that opening the shop has a onetime fee of 1,000g.

TIP: If you are a new user Visit Clay Bostwick in the Gold Emporium and do some of his quests. One of his quests will give you an Auction Shop at a discount! However Avoid the Solar Faction quests for now they are hard to do and you may want to get the hang of the site first.

    • Step 3: Now that you've bought yourself an Auction Shop it will be attached to the top of your thread. By buying a shop you are automatically entered into the Exchange Earner and Seller contests! Look in the post below this one for more information on those. You'll see some buttons. History will show you everything you've ever sold in your Auction Shop. On the right the Gavel with the + Will let you add an item. The empty space under settings and history is where your "About Shop" goes if you choose to make one. Let's click Settings!

    • Step 4: Here you'll see the title of your thread which can be changed at any time as well as an "about shop" box that you can put whatever you like into. You also have some default settings you can change if you like. Main Background requires an image URL this will change the blue background of your shop. Inventory background also needs an image URL and will change the white part in your shop where your items are. Text Color and Border Color require color codes. They're the same thing that's used for BBcode it's a # followed by 6 numbers. This will change the color of the borders and text in your shop box.
Have you seen shops where the entire thread is customized? If you want for 500g you can upgrade your thread. This will give you the ability to change anything on the entire thread by using CSS code. If you don't know CSS or want help customizing your shop ask around in the Profile Discussion. By buying the CSS thread upgrade you are automatically entered into the CSS contest! See here for more information on that.

    • Step 5: Now that you have a CSS upgrade click settings again. You'll now find a box for "custom CSS" placing CSS code in this box will change features of your shop. Remember the rules about CSS:
      • You may not interfere with general site navigation.
      • You may not replace or modify displayed avatars.
      • You may not hide the report button.
      • You may not hide the disable CSS button.
You don't want to have your shop locked and lose all the gold and work you've put into it so make sure to follow the rules! You're now set up to win contests and be a gold making machine! Good luck and have fun.

Rules and Guidelines of Exchange Contests

As you may or may not know the Exchange is host to 3 monthly contests. We enjoy having these contests and everyone is able to have a lot of fun however the Exchange contests also have the most problems. To stop this from happening we have put fourth some rules. Follow the rules and everyone will have a great time. Don't follow the rules and you'll receive warning/ban along with Disqualification from any contests you've entered that month with the possibility of being barred from contests indefinitely for repeat offenses. Remember if you're planning some scheme for winning, chances are it's cheating. Be proud of your win by playing fair.

    CSS Contest
This contest can also be participated in by making a custom profile or pet page.
    • You may not interfere with general site navigation.
    • You may not replace or modify displayed avatars.
    • You may not hide the report button.
    • You may not hide the disable CSS button.
    • All site rules apply. Inappropriate or malicious content will not be tolerated.

    Top Earner and Seller Contests
Though they are separate contests they hold the same rules.
    • Gains without loss
What is this and why? This means no buying your own items with a mule. No selling to a friend who will trade the item back to you. No selling a friends items for them. No buying shop items to sell at full or over shop price. Gains without loss means you've done something to make your score go up without losing anything.
    • Sale Sabotage
What is this and why? Sale sabotage is doing something to sabotage the sales of other competitors. This means going into their thread to bash them or their prices, harassment, or guilting. Stealing their sales by going into the thread or PMing a buyer to get them to buy from you instead. Taking offers on items a competitor is selling so you can buy their item and sell it yourself nullifying their sale.**

      **This is different from restocking.
Restocking is buying things from the Auction House with intent to resell the item. You may restock ONLY if you sell the item for above the price you bought it for. Restocking can not only sabotage the competitor you grab the item from but is also gains without loss.
