yea, it's just flour salt and water, knead and roll out small balls of it into a thin circle and cook on a flat pan. you have to then cook it on an open flame the way shown in that image soo...

but a lot of south asian dishes are eaten with roti

      o.O uhm...why?

to understand roti you have to understand south asian cooking. =/ i don't really know how to describe it.

We are trying to avoid using the oven during this heat wave. I'm making beef stew in the crock pot today.

I see. Well, I'll try it sometime.

Oh, dear. I thought I read something about an open flame. Sorry.

He's some better today. I'm giving him one more try and if he still has a hard time tonight, it's the MEDICINE of DOOM for him!

      This isn't the device i use but here's a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwtelJNe ... ure=fvwrel
I don't use the wire thing, but it seems easier this way? i just do it straight on the burner, keeping a hold of it with my flat tongs and rotating then flip.

      which medicine?

The wire thing is so cool, tho'! I didn't hear her say what temperature she cooked it at.

You know, it's been so long that the doctor gave us the prescription that I don't remember which one it is, but it's used as an antidepressant, most commonly. For him, he'd take a very low dose so the issues associated with antidepressants wouldn't be a concern for him, but it still scares us both. Since he's NOT depressed and the dose is low and two doctors have said it would be fine...I may just have to try it.
