Here you will learn about the basics of the farm life. From tools to animals, this is everything your little farmer's heart needs to know!

Tools

~ Trowel
A tool every farmer should have so their crops can be planted.
Used to clear plots and dig up soil.
IMPORTANT: The Apprentice, Novice, Journeyman and Master Trowels recieved from Mira as a harvesting tool cannot be used as a farm tool.

~ Watering Can
Another tool every farmer should have or their crops will shrivel and die.
Used to water crops.

~ Gold Watering Can
An upgrade from the watering can.
Used to water crops without having to re-click the tool.

~ Gardening Gloves
Another tool every farmer should have or they will not be able to harvest their crops.
Used to pick fully grown crops from farm.

All of your basic farming tools can be bought at the Garden Patio Cafe.

Crops

~ Crops
Crops are the produce you create on your farm from planting seeds in the soil plots,
and are the main way to make a profit from your farm.

Crops will die if they are not watered for 12 -24 hours
, depending on the crop.

They come in many different shapes and sizes and their seeds can be bought at the Garden Patio Cafe.

~ Rare Crops
Sometimes crops in your garden will seem different than the other crops of the same type. For example you may notice that your Mushroom is called Poisonous Mushroom and it is red and yellow instead of brown.

Don't be alarmed by this, it just means you have the more rare version of your crop.

These more rare versions can be sold for a higher profit value than the common version.

Animals

~ Animals
Animals are another way to cash out on your farm.

They can be grown, and can produce items for you, but not without the proper equipment.

Animals can also protect your crops from pests to help make maximum profit.

Buildings

~ Buildings
A very important part of your farm if you have any animals! Buildings house your animals so they can live and thrive.

Other

~ Weather
Everyday in your farm you have a chance of having a certain weather condition, this explains them.

Image ~ Partly Cloudy ~ Nothing happens.

Image ~ Sunny Day ~ Nothing happens.

Image ~ Cloudy Day ~ Nothing happens.

Image ~ Rainy Day ~ All crops are watered for the day.

Image ~ Stormy Day ~ All crops are destroyed.

~ Pests
Sometimes creatures will come and destroy some of your crops. But do not worry there is a way to fight back!
All you need to do to get rid of these annoying pest is simply buy or raise a Husker and put it on your farm.

When you first walk into your farm you will notice that it is a piece of steaming horse poo.
You are probably thinking what am I going to do?
Am I doomed to have a destroyed farm?

Fear not user, for I will help you with your farm.

First things first, go to the Garden Patio Cafe and pick uo your Trowel, Gardening Gloves, and your choice of a Watering Can.

Cleaning The Farm!

Now that you have your basic farming tools, let's get to work on cleaning up your farm.

Step 1: Click on the Trowel in your farm inventory located under your farm.

Step 2: Click on an area on your farm that has weeds, trees, or rocks.

Step 3: Now a little image will pop up and tell you if you can get rid of it or if you need a higher profession level. For a chart of skills required, check here. If you need a higher profession level, then work on your mining or lumberjacking skills by checking out the Professional's Plaza.

Step 4: You will be left with a grassy patch of land, that means the area is clean.

Step 5: Trowel the area one more time and your grass will turn into soil, now you are ready to plant crops.

Managing Your Crops!

Time to head back to the Garden Patio Cafe and buy some seeds. Make sure that you buy seeds that you are capable of planting! For more information on which seeds you can plant, check out the crop information post.

TIP!
Mushrooms don't require any botony, but they also don't help you gain any botony levels either! If you plan on moving up to higher level crops, it is recommended you start with turnips. Turnips require 15 botony, which you can get by simply equipping all of your basic tools on the Profession Equipment page.

Step 1: Once you have bought the seeds from the Garden Patio Cafe it is time to plant them to do so simply click on your seed packet and click an area of soil.

Step 2: Now that your seeds are in the ground, click on your Watering Can and click the seeds, the soil around the seeds will turn a dark brown, this means they are watered.

Step 3: Wait about six hours until you water your crops again, that is when they will become dry again.

Step 4: Keep repeating this process until when you hover over the crop it says the crops name by itself, or "Grown" (Remember all crops have different watering requirements).

Step 5: On the final water you will have to wait a bit, crops do not automatically grow once watered, they take time like real plants.

Step 6: Now that your crop is fully grown you are going to need to harvest it. Click on the Gardening Gloves in your farm inventory and click on your crop. Important! Do not use your trowel to harvest your crops, troweling them will destroy them. This will send your crop to your inventory where it will be ready to sell.

Profiting From Your Farm!

Now that you have harvested your crops head on down to your inventory.

Step 1: Go to the last page in your inventory and find the crop you have harvested.

Step 2: Click on the crop and click on the button "Pawn" .

Step 3: This will ask you to sell your crop for a certain amount of money, click yes and get your profit.

Extra Profit!

Sometimes when you are growing crops your crop will change color, don't be alarmed this just means your crop is a rare crop and can be sold for an even higher amount of money than usual.

Still confused? It's okay, there are a ton of people around the community that can help you. :) If you have any questions still, feel free to ask them in this thread! There are no "stupid questions" and never feel shy to ask! But please do not PM me to ask questions about farming, I guarantee you will get your answer much more quickly.

Image

Nobody can always be here to always water their plants every six hours. We all have important things like school and work. Sometimes we even like to sleep. Fortunately, with a watering can, not only can you water your own farm, but you can water other people's, and they can do the same for you.

Make sure you add your farm to the farm list, so that you don't have to worry as much about your plants going unwatered! But make sure you don't forget about them. Crops won't last long without being harvested, even when they do get watered.

Image

If you're thinking about starting a farm, but having trouble getting together all the gold it takes to start one? Check out this Farm Charity thread! They can help you with getting things like your basic items, profession items, seeds, and even animals! Just make sure you follow their guidelines. ;)
